In Season 9, the events of the series are complemented by further investigation, where Oliveira decides to tell Rodriguez that there are more potential suspects in his mother's intrusion, including a man who has been released from parole. Rodriguez had imprisoned the man for eight years, so things would be quite clear. Rodriguez and Oliveira would go to the place he suspected during those moments.

The season seems promising, if not fresh. NYPD Blue long ago lost the right to that adjective, but a renewed national interest in and respect for cops could give this series an unexpected boost.
