Alphas - Season 1
The series tells of more action and drama, with ominous messages leading a man to the roof of the building, carrying out an improbable release in the opening match of the series after a team of exceptional abilities investigating crimes associated with other people like them. On the other hand, there is a former patient with problems in the escape from Rosen, where Rosen recognizes the liaison officer of the Ministry of Defense, and the rest of the team trying to balance their normal life and work like Alphas.

It's that kind of science-fiction drama, one that understands that a little bit of bathos and banality will enrich the mix, rather than curdle it.

Unfortunately, the efforts to root the story in reality also succeed in making it fairly mundane.
July 11, 2011
Alphas at least has the grace to tread wryly and lightly.
July 06, 2011
It's a light, entertaining and mostly well-acted show that could develop a fascinating mythology or end up just spinning its wheels.

The soul of the show is its conflicted "heroes," truly tortured, in palpable ways. There's no cartoonery here. Just adult adventure and angst.

Things just don't jell very well on any level in the all-important introductory episode.

Each character possesses his own set of personal struggles and flaws, as well as a deep back story, and each brings a unique dynamic to the group, which will make Alphas one of the best summer shows, not just on Syfy, but on television.
July 11, 2011
Alphas is hardly the alpha show in this supernatural-hero genre, but it's still engaging.
July 11, 2011
SyFy's Alphas might have been a reasonable excuse for summer entertainment five years ago but we've seen too many shows like it in the last few to give this disappointment a pass.

The basic premise "people with different powers combining them to fight for a worthy cause" may be ancient, but it still works.
