It looks like a cat and mouse game. The series begins with Eve, a 19-year-old US tourist targeted by serial killer Mick Taylor. It may be a series of conflicts, but Eve survives his attack and begins a reprisal mission in search of revenge, as he plans again for stronger and more dangerous conflicts.

Many of the flaws stem from a frustratingly inconsistent narrative. The series can't decide if it wants to be a single heart-pounding tale of revenge, or a more meditative and sprawling journey throughout the remote Australian countryside.

This is a gripping and chilling series that shows that Wolf Creek has always been cleverer and richer than it might seem, although strong stomachs are required.

It was a tough thing to pull off but Greg McLean and his crew have done an admirable job repackaging his 2005 horror film into a revenge-driven TV series.
