UnREAL - Season 4
Drama behind the scenes returns again in the fourth season following the experiences of that young staffer, Rachel, whose sole job is to manipulate her relationships with the contestants. In this season we see her expand a relationship with one of the participants and going so far as to sleep with him. At eight episodes, this is the first season of a 2018 TV drama that feels like it's precisely as long as it should be, no midseason aimlessness, a runaway-train kineticism from episode 5 onwards.
July 20, 2018
With every heinous act, UnREAL burns another bridge behind itself, until, like Rachel herself, it's not even recognizable anymore.
July 24, 2018
In UnREAL's fourth and final season,... the show loses sight of any real messaging.
July 20, 2018
It's depressing to see UnREAL become exactly what it parodied so well at the outset.
July 17, 2018
There is no actual wifey on the season, and I love that. It is all about exploring how women are told they aren't good enough for a happy ending.
July 20, 2018
Returns, confidently and furiously, to its greatest strengths: an insider's indictment of the reality TV-making process and a candidly complicated exploration of female mentorship in a male-run industry.
July 20, 2018
Despite being a surprise release, this final season of UnREAL still seems to be a slow petering out, rather than a triumphant and timely exploration of our fascination with scandal and our collective willingness to drag women through the mud
July 26, 2018
It's a relatable, clever move that ties Rachel and Quinn closer together, but it's up to Hulu to decide what to do with it.
July 17, 2018
It's relentlessly modern and in-your-face critical of current reality television.
July 24, 2018
The final moments of UnREAL bring with them an over-the-top, operatic feel, one that pushes every strain of believability but, in the grand scheme of things, feels pretty fitting.
