Perhaps we can blame ennui for the programme's decline, as it has failed to truly evolve since its early days. But, predominantly, it's the change of the real world of work that makes its issues so prominent.

The Apprentice has become a curious beast - past its peak, but still pulling in enough viewers to justify its annual return. I wonder what could shake it out of this torpor.
