Thomas Malone has his murder conviction overturned after 23 years – 23 years that he’s spent behind bars. But that, in turn, means DI Jimmy Perez (Douglas Henshal) must reopen the investigation into the murder of local teenager Lizzie Kilmuir, who was killed in 1994. Soon, Perez, Duncan and Cassie are all reunited in Shetland when Cassie surprises them by flying back.
