Murder in the First - Season 1
Set in San Francisco, the show follows a single case across an entire season. In Season 1, SFPD Homicide Inspectors Terry English and Hildy Mulligan investigate two seemingly unrelated murders. The mystery deepens, however, when they find both murders have a common denominator in a Silicon Valley wunderkind (Tom Felton).

Overall, the premiere was entertaining. The multiple murders and people involved have set up for a season-long mystery that I'm looking forward to seeing solved.

Good, cleanly told newcomer that can be a bit pokey.

If the pilot is any indication, it should be perfect summer-worthy viewing and a good match with Major Crimes. I'm in.

The show is merely solid-albeit wholly unambitious-and when there are so many more exciting shows on the horizon, solid and unambitious don't really cut it.
June 09, 2014
The characters may be shallow, but that doesn't keep the show from giving the easy pleasures of reading a quickie mystery novel.
June 09, 2014
Like most of the best cable shows, Murder in the First strips the production and the cast down to the essentials, then executes them well.
June 12, 2014
Recent serialized yarns have surpassed this, which has the feel of a crime-of-the-week procedural but doesn't have the payoff at each episode's end.

If Bochco can re-create the twisty legal action that was a hallmark of [L.A. Law], Murder in the First will be worth the 10 hours.
