Season 5 seems to be full of exciting events and fierce competition. The season begins with two drivers who are undergoing a new experience in Dash for the Cash. Hugh and Alex seem to have a strong experience alongside Rick Yemm, leaving Alaska behind them to take some of the most remote, exciting and fun routes from their point of view.

Despite a certain cheesiness and tendency toward hyperbole (invariably reaching a fever-pitch at each cliffhanger commercial break), Ice Road Truckers is a fun and interesting show, and Season Five is consistently watchable.
