The big reveal of this season finale was that Meredith has quietly become a much more stable and sympathetic character, a very welcome payoff for an often painful season.

Aside from the soapy, sexual overtones, what has so many people hooked on Grey's is the complexity of its characters.

You'll pardon me if I'm more interested in the weekly guest stars and in the work done by Grey's standouts Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. Their characters, Miranda Bailey and Richard Webber, are the heart and soul of Grey's.

Based on the two-hour premiere, it does appear like things are changing for the better at Seattle Grace hospital.
