Yu Yu Hakusho - Season 1
In a series of adventures by Yusuke Oramichi, 14 years old. It seems that Yosuke is the worst student in his class, as he is always in fights and always seems to be the bad apple in his place. One day, Yusuke died in order to save a small boy from traffic. Because of this self-act, he passes through an ordeal to recover his body and becomes a spiritual detective who performs a number of spiritual tasks.

You need strong writing, characters you care about and tons of action. Needless to say, the anime (and its manga and movie versions) have all these goods.

Despite the supernatural elements, Yu Yu Hakusho feels more realistic than some other anime series, and as a result is more entertaining.

While Yu Yu Hakusho is pretty much everything people who avoid anime because they watched one episode of a Dragon Ball property and didn't like it would assume it to be, it's also, quietly, an extraordinarily sensitive show.
