Through a chain of comedy and exciting events, this series follows, Rel, a father who lives with his family on the West Side of Chicago. One day, Rel finds that his wife has an affair with his barber. He is shocked, so he decided to leave the house heading to live with his recently out-of-jail younger brother, Nat, and Rel's prideful dad. During his stay, he live comedy stories with them and his best friend, Brittany.

"Rel" feels like it's gone through the dreaded Network Comedy Blender rendering it "networkized," which means the setups are obvious, the payoffs conspicuous.

There's still room for improvement. Many a terrific sitcom has had a wobbly debut.

Diversity in prime-time is both laudable and necessary. But when this is the end result, it's better left undone. C'mon, Fox, do better. Do much, much better than this.
