Thankfully, the signs are good so far: "Enemy of the State" is a strong season premiere that allows for great work by Claire Danes.

By the end of the episode, Homeland jumps the rails so quickly, so wildly (not that last season ended on a high note, exactly) that I began to suspect there was, to quote the title of the series' second-best episode, "something else going on."

These scenes paint her as the clear megalomaniacal villain of the season, so much so it makes you almost understand why Brett O'Keefe (Jake Weber) keeps ranting to his camera despite being on the run.
