Between this and the ongoing alt-right storyline, it's more and more evident that Homeland is doing a Trump season without Trump. Whether or not they ultimately pull it off, what began as an erratic season is starting to coalesce nicely.

So much of the intro sequence this season relates directly to Carrie's condition. With lines like "It's only getting worse," we should have known that Carrie's health would be a major theme. It's doubtful we've seen the last of it.

It is a lot to chew on, but when both narratives were (mostly) firing on all cylinders tonight, the result was a taut hour that continues to build on the momentum created by season 6.

I wish we spent a little more time meeting the rest of her allies (Anson wasn't exactly the most pleasant of the bunch), but this was a taut one-episode mission that got us closer to where we need to be for the rest of the season.
