Mystery Men
A group of inept amateur superheroes must try to save the day when a supervillian threatens to destroy a major superhero and the city. The only problem is that their strange powers, silverware hurling, bowling, shovel skills, incompetent invisibility and deadly flatulence, aren't doing them any favors.

Hugely entertaining -- especially for those with a thing for superheroes.November 16, 2009
Fails to come up with worthy gags and one-liners for the able cast.August 25, 2008
An instant cult comedy that doesn't walk or talk like anything else out there.May 07, 2012
It is good that the film has charm, for after a certain point it doesn't necessarily have anything else.June 18, 2002
This bunch achieves peaks of sublime nuttiness.September 29, 2012
Even with its super cast, the slow-moving 'Mystery Men' falters in its attempt to spoof comic book heroes.March 22, 2002
Surprisingly, this spoof's heart is genuinely warm.June 24, 2006
Usher's amiable spoof of superhero movies takes a brave stab at rewriting the mythology from the inside out, with lots of witty, mildly subversive stuff.December 26, 2010
Witty comic-book story is edgy, with lots of potty humor.February 21, 2004
Mystery Men is like its hapless heroes. It's a wannabe that has the best intentions -- including a pronounced anti-gun stance -- but none of the knack it takes to save the day, or itself.January 01, 2000
Crafty, witty.July 15, 2010
The characters have been designed to make fun of themselves, disguising the craft of writer Neil Cuthbert and director Kinka Usher in getting us to laugh at them.
