Blue Thunder
A helicopter-pilot-officer and troubled Vietnam War veteran with PTSD is assigned to fly Blue Thunder, an experimental, high-tech helicopter as part of an anti-terrorist task force. The copter is soon pressed into action by the efforts of the vet's former friend, now a brutal villain planning a takeover of the United States.

Well-made action flick with high-tech police chopper. Solid performances from Roy Scheider and Daniel Stern.

still an invigorating and sardonic film

So bad it must be a Badham picture.

Despite some big lapses in logic, Blue Thunder is a thrilling action-adventure with a smart, cynical attitude and a villain (Malcolm McDowell) you'll just love to hate.

As a cop-action flick this isn't bad, but it fits the mold so thoroughly that it feels more familiar than it should.

Scheider's quite great in this techno-helicopter thriller.

I've always had a weakness for Blue Thunder, which seemed terribly exciting during my teen years. More than two decades later, I can admit that it's not a great picture. But I still like it.

A cinematic rollercoaster ride.

The battle in Blue Thunder is less between Scheider's edgy police pilot Frank Murphy and his ultimate nemesis (Malcom McDowell), as it is between Murphy and the high-tech beast he's asked to pilot.
