It's very much of a structured format, and to maintain creative excitement within those boundaries is a cool challenge: how can we write a song so simply and so beautifully and so powerfully that by the second chorus everyone can sing it? [on performing in Inuvik] I was there in January in the dead of winter, to do an acoustic show in an igloo church. One of the things I remember most is, technically the sun had returned after thirty days of night a few days before that, but it had been cloudy and no one had seen it yet. It's only up for about an hour or two, and it's like a permanent sunset. That day it was minus forty and the sun was this orange ball on the horizon. And everyone's faces - the way they looked at the sun for the first time that year - was really special. Hide
