Kya from 7yrs old enjoyed classes in Tap & Ballet. Attended the Anna Scher Theatre School, London, winning "actor of the week". This is where her passion to be an actress came from. Changing her name to Julianna Kya Garwood which is taken from her mothers side, thought the name would work better than Julie-Ann Melvin. A Miss United Kingdom finalist, Kya preferred to host pageants rather than compete, through self determination gained credits to present on television and live stage. In 2005 Kya was chosen to stand-in and be the body double for Michelle Pfeiffer in the film I Could Never Be Your Woman this then lead to Kya being Michelle's permanent stand-in/double for the UK. This amazing opportunity spurred Kya on to get back into acting on a professional level, so she continued to study courses in Performing Arts at the Kensington & Chelsea College and Masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) most recently in Los Angeles with acting Guru Margie Haber, her working life is gradually going from strength to strength after working alongside leading Names within British film royalty and Hollywood's elitist. 2014 Kya was cast in the US Drama 24:Live Another Day but unfortunately her scene was cut and she never made the final credits, however it did help her secure several features with Thunderball Films where she will be playing the reoccurring role of Jenny Anderson in the Dragonman features, Kya can also be seen in season 3 of 50 Ways To Kill Your Lover, The Intent, and the upcoming comedy Paddington 2 this being her main big feature cameo appearance.
