Pop-rock singer Brittney Rose "Nikki" Cleary was born on May 11, 1988 in Albany, New York. Brittney attended Mohonasen's Draper Middle School in Schenectady, New York and Clayton A. Bouton High School in Voorheesville, New York. Cleary's exceptional singing ability was first discovered by her grandmother at a karaoke hangout in Albany, New York. Brittney went on to win a local talent contest and sang live on the air on a local radio station. Cleary's family moved to Nashville, Tennessee in order to jump start her musical career. Brittney first found success in 2001 with the catchy and clever novelty pop tune "I.M. Me." She released her debut album "Everything I Wished For" on the Free Falls label in 2002; the album went to #45 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart. In the summer of 2002 Cleary signed with the major label Jive Records, who asked her to change her first name from Brittney to Nikki because they already had another artist named Brittney on their roster. Brittney released her second album "Nikki Cleary" in 2003. She supported her sophomore album by performing mini-concerts at shopping malls and middle schools. Moreover, the bouncy single "1-2-3" made the Top 30 on Billboard's Radio Disney charts. Her songs have been featured on the soundtracks to the teen comedy films "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen," "Mean Girls," and "Aquamarine." Hide
